Clinical Supervision is the gatekeeper of your profession.

Clinical supervision is considered the ‘signature pedagogy’ of the counselling and psychotherapy profession internationally. The role of ‘gatekeeper of the profession’ comes with a heavy burden of responsibility for supervisors in contemporary practice. Further, clinical supervision is emerging as a cross profession competence in the broad social and healthcare sectors. Therefore, the demand for well-trained supervisors is set to grow in the years ahead, especially in light of statutory regulation. Perhaps you have been a psychotherapist for a number of years and want something new in your career? Maybe you feel you have something to offer existing professionals or new entrants to the profession? Perhaps you have been a supervisee for a long time and want to gain some insights into what up-to-date research says about how to get the best out of supervision and further sharpen your clinical skills. These topics and more will be explored in this short one-day course.

Who is this course for?

This introductory course is suitable for existing professionals in the health and social care fields (e.g. counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, youth workers, psychologists, nurses etc.). If you are interested in learning how to help other practitioners to thrive in difficult environments, improve your own skills as a practitioner and contribute to your organisation and/or profession, then this course will be of interest to you.

What will you learn?

Participants will learn what it takes to become and effective, contemporary clinical supervisor. The experiential style of this workshop will invite participants to apply the knowledge acquired into practice. Lecturer led demonstrations will bring the research informed course content to life allowing for transferrable skills into professional settings.
