MSc Addiction Counselling & Psychotherapy - 10:00 to 12:00

In the meantime, Eoin Stephens, addiction expert and Programme Leader of this course gave an overview of what the steps are if you would like to specialize in Addiction and explained our MSc Addiction Counselling & Psychotherapy programme. You can check his video here.

MSc Child & Adolescent Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Skills - 10:00 to 13:30

In the meantime, Majella Ryan, PCI College lecturer answered some common questions that we received from applicants that might be useful for you, who are looking to work with children and teenagers:

- If I am a qualified counsellor, do I need to get a specialization to work with children?

As Majella explains, children share their emotion in the same way as adults. It is a new way to start a talk, that you will learn with this course. You can see her answer here

- I paid the insurance, is that not enough?

That seems to be a tricky one and you will need to check with your accredited body. However, if new legislation comes in with CORU, things will change and if you have a qualification, you will be ready for that, as a course meets IACP requirements. You can watch what Majella Ryan has to say about that here.

- What will I learn?

Exploring creative media such as art, sand-play, therapeutic storytelling, drama, music and other approaches, this course places significant emphasis on experiential learning and the acquisition of key skills for work with young clients. It draws on established and current theory in counselling and psychotherapy, up-to-date approaches in child and adolescent mental health, lifespan development, family systems and trauma. You can check Majella's video here.
