Course Details

Are you interested in pursuing a career as a counsellor / psychotherapist? Have you always wondered if counselling is the profession for you and been keen to learn more about the process, the theories and skills of therapy? Or are you interested in personal development and keen to learn more about yourself; to understand how you have become the person you are through your life's experiences?

Come along to our Open Day in February and find out more about our foundation Certificate and BSc honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy.  The Open Days will be held in each of our course venues, and you can meet Lecturers, staff and graduates to answer all your questions about these and other courses.  You can get a first-hand insight into the learning environment we provide and the support we give to students.

The Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy (starting 25th February 2017) is a 100 hour introductory course in counselling & psychotherapy, which introduces you to the three main elements of Counselling & Psychotherapy - personal development, counselling skills and theories & approaches.  It meets the entry criteria for the BSc honours degree, or is a fulfilling and energising personal development course which can benefit anyone.

 

The BSc honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy (starting September 2017) is a four year, part-time course at Level 6, academically validated by Middlesex University and fully approved by the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) for professional accreditation.  The BSc also meets the criteria for accreditation with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

 

If you have already decided to start your personal or counselling journey this year, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible for the Spring Certificate. Places are limited in each venue and classes are already filling up for the February course.

The Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy is made up of 4 modules
  • Personal Development
  • Overview of Theorists & Key Approaches
  • Counselling Skills
  • Introduction to the profession of counselling & psychotherapy

 

Topics explored in the course include self-esteem, values, building resilience, mindfulness, empathy, non-verbal communication, active listening and many others.


Participants can expect to:

  • Develop an understanding and appreciation of counselling as a distinct interpersonal form.
  • Learn and practice key frameworks for counselling and the skills required to implement them.
  • Reflect on personal growth and experience of life as a primary source of your understanding of counselling.
  • Become familiar with some of the main issues presented in counselling and an outline of how each is treated.
 
The next Certificate course begins on Saturday 25th February 2017 in all of our venues and takes place every second Saturday & Sunday (9.30am - 4.30pm). The course fee is £950.00 and two payment options are available.
